Welcome to Underdogs Engine!
One of our mottos at Underdogs is “Engines win championships”. That’s why you’ll see dedicated monostructural work as a steadfast piece of all of our competitor programs.
Our Underdogs Engine program is the perfect add-on for anyone looking to make measurable gains on machines as well as with running either as a stand alone program or an add-on to your current training regimen.
The program will consist of five 20-60 minute sessions, each of which follows it’s own progression over the course of each cycle.
It includes sessions for:
- Air Bikes and Bike Ergs
- Rowing
- Skiing
- Running
- Mixed Machines
Keep in mind that you can always substitute a machine that you don’t have access to and that you aren’t required to complete every session each week to make gains!
F.A.Q:
Can I add this to my current training program?
In most cases, yes! All of our elite competitors have programmed monostructural sessions in addition to their weightlifting, skill work, metcons, and accessory work each day.
Should I do this at the beginning or end of my session?
Before or after can work, but keep in mind that performing it first within the same session as lifting could hinder your session performance in that lift. If conditioning is what you need to work on most, though, this might not be a problem
Many of our elite athletes perform their conditioning work as a separate session in the morning, a few hours before lifting and other metcons.
Do I have to complete all 5 days?
Nope! Each day is built to be an independent progression for a different machine or quality. You could choose 2-3 to prioritize or do all 5!
What if I miss a week in the progression?
For best results, we’d suggest going back to the previous week and continuing your linear plan. However, if that sounds like more trouble than it’s worth, nothing bad will happen if you move on to the next week - just manage expectations accordingly!
