HYROX Track
Why this program exists
HYROX is not just “running plus stations.” It’s compromised running, pacing discipline, and repeatable station efficiency under fatigue, exactly where most class programming becomes either too random or too punishing.
The WOD-Science HYROX Track is built to deliver race-relevant fitness in a class format: aerobic development, threshold capacity, strength for stations, speed economy, and HYROX-specific bricks, progressed across training cycles so members don’t stall.
Evidence-based by design
WOD-Science programming is built with a sport-science mindset: clear training intent, progressive exposure, fatigue management, and repeatable progressions that allow athletes to improve measurably over time. We use tools coaches can actually apply on the floor, especially RPE targets, structured progressions, and planned variation, so sessions are challenging, sustainable, and consistent with how people adapt to training.
What it looks like in the gym
Each session is written for a 60-minute class, but the structure is flexible by day to match HYROX needs. Expect:
- Warm-Up Focus (coach-led)
- We don’t script your warm-up. Instead, we specify the key joints, tissues, and movement patterns that must be prepared so coaches can warm up in their own style.
- Main Session Focus with clear intent
- Pacing guidance + RPE targets so athletes learn what sustainable race effort actually feels like
- Built-in options to scale volume, impact, and station difficulty without losing the stimulus
Focus days that mirror HYROX demands
The weekly system covers the core HYROX capacities in a repeatable rhythm:
- Aerobic (Zone 2) Conditioning: durability and base fitness
- Threshold Conditioning: sustainable “hard” work and pace tolerance
- HYROX Bricks / Blocks: run → station → run, with compromised running practice
- Strength: HYROX-relevant patterns for developing the important strength parts
- Speed: short intervals, mechanics, running economy, controlled intensity, Plyometrics
- Mixed: hybrid formats that connect systems and keep training engaging
- Team WOD (Sunday anchor): community format with race-relevant elements
Focus days rotate on a set rhythm (with Team WOD fixed), so no single quality gets neglected and gyms avoid repeating the same stress patterns every week.
Built in cycles with progression and recovery
Instead of smashing athletes with “race sims” every week, the programming builds capacity across cycles:
- volume and tolerance develop first,
- then intensity and specificity increase,
- with planned recovery to ensure adaptation (not just fatigue).
What makes this different
- Pacing is coached, not hoped for: RPE targets and intent are explicit.
- Compromised endurance is trained deliberately: bricks/blocks build the skill of re-entry to different stations.
- Class-friendly race specificity: station work is meaningful without requiring constant full HYROX equipment access.
- Scalable for mixed levels: athletes can train together while hitting the correct stimulus.
What you receive
- 7 days/week HYROX programming built for 60-minute classes and 2 weeks in advance, so you can plan ahead.
- Session intent, pacing guidance, and RPE targets
- Clear scaling pathways (volume, impact, station difficulty, and intensity)
- Coaches notes focused on floor management, station standards, and pacing control
- A structure that supports both HYROX racers and general fitness members
