Ultimate Engine is my best hybrid training program to date. After years of blending endurance and strength, I wanted a training cycle that allowed me to develop both at the same time, without having to fully prioritize one over the other. By studying sports like Nordic skiing, rugby, and rowing, I built a system that cycles high-intensity weeks and high-volume weeks with lower-intensity, recovery-focused training. This four-week structure allows you to train the right amount, at the right time, so both strength and endurance improve together.
While developing this program, I was able to set a HYROX world record, win the GoRuck Games, and win the HYROX World Championship in dominant fashion. This plan is designed to help you succeed - your job is to do the work exactly as prescribed, no more and no less.
Week one is the hardest, and week three is the longest. Biking is a critical part of this program and should not be substituted for running. The bike is used as a recovery tool, allowing you to continue building your engine while recovering from intense gym sessions and managing overall run volume.
This is not a year-round program. Run it, then pull back to address your weaknesses before returning stronger and more prepared.
Be smart, train smart, and win big.
